Welcome to the Belle Plaine 7-12 bands website!  I'm very excited to be a part of the Belle Plaine Public School family for the upcoming school year and many more to come.  My name is Mr. Kevin Robinson and I am teaching the 7-12 bands and seventh grade general music.  For the years to come our goal is to build the BP band program while partnering with the community to expect excellence from everyone everyday.  Please continue to read below and browse around the website as it will help you better get to know me - Mr. Robinson!

I grew-up in the St. Paul suburb of Inver Grove Heights which has a population of 32,000.  Needless to say, size wise, there is a bit of a difference.  There is a calm feeling while driving through town and I have enjoyed that already.  Piano was my first passion when it comes to music - started playing when I was 5 years old.  Through elementary school my passion for music grew further and in fourth grade I started to learn the trumpet.  In middle and high school I continued to take piano lessons, play trumpet in school, and participate in sports - soccer, basketball, and tennis.  Athletics has always been a large part of my life, and I am excited to continue that in coaching girl's tennis here in BP.  While growing-up, another big part of my life during the summers was spent at our cabin in Brainerd.  When I have a chance to get away, that's where I usually am.

The College of St. Benedict and St. John's University (CSB|SJU) was where I choose to call home during the four years of college.  While at CSB|SJU I became a music education major and graduated in December of 2011 with my B.A. in both K-12 Music Education and Music Performance.

After college I started my teaching career in St. Cloud, MN at Talahi Community School.  During the 2012-2013 school year at Talahi I taught K-6 general music and got to better know the surrounding community.  Then from 2013-2015 I taught band at Clearview Elementary School and South Junior High School.  Last year, I was the K-12 music teacher in Lyle Public School (Lyle, MN) which kept me on my toes all year.  While in Lyle I was not only able to teach, but I also coached Junior High Boy's Basketball.

I continue my career with a move closer to the Twin Cities area where many of my family and friends are located - Belle Plaine.  Since my arrival, I have heard many get things about the community and I look forward to meeting you as the school year goes on.

Please feel free to contact me at any time with questions,

Mr. Kevin Robinson
