Welcome to the Chatfield Elementary principal's page. My name is Kimberly DeWitte; I am the Early Learning-Grade 2 principal. I am very excited to be a part of the Chatfield Elementary and Belle Plaine School District Community.
I have been in education for 20 years. Prior to becoming an administrator, I taught pre-kindergarten, kindergarten, third grade and English as a Second Language. I was also a Dean of Students for 4 years. I thoroughly enjoy working with young children. They love school, their teachers, and learning.
I have several beliefs about education but my top 3 are:
1. Every child can learn. They may not all learn at the same pace, level, or in the same manner but given the correct supports, all children can achieve success.
2. Every child, regardless of race, ethnicity, or background deserves equity and access to a viable curriculum.
3. Student learning must be the focus of our school.
The staff at Chatfield Elementary is dedicated to providing the best education possible for their students. Working in PLC teams to focus on what it is they want their students to learn and responding to that learning by either extending their knowledge or reinforcing skills is their strength.
I look forward to continuing Chatfield Elementary's traditions of academic excellence with a dedicated professional staff and high level of parental involvement.
Chatfield Elementary welcomes visitors and parents to our building. If you have questions, please call the office at 952-873-2401.
