As a counselor at Chatfield I have the privilege of working with every student in grades K-2. I am a support for all students and work closely with teachers, other staff, and parents to help students in three primary domains: personal/social, academic, and career. To do this I will meet with students individually, in groups, and in the classroom. I am excited to get to know each of the students and families in the Belle Plaine community.
On a more personal note, I am originally from Glencoe. I graduated with a B.A. in Psychology from College of Saint Benedict, and then I completed my M.S. in School Counseling at Minnesota State University, Mankato. I spent three years as the K-8 Counselor at St. Mary's School in Bird Island before coming to Chatfield. I got married this past February and live with my husband in Arlington. In my free time I enjoy reading, helping build websites for friends with small businesses, spending time outdoors, being with family, friends, and my pets.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns you may have throughout the school year. Parents, I also encourage you to check out Schoology for updates regarding classroom lessons and counseling news.
Looking for more information about the role of a School Counselor? The American School Counselor Association is a great place to learn more about what I do. My training is based on this model, and I will work to align my program goals with the national standards. For a more kid-friendly description, check out Kids Health's description
