Distance Learning Plan - Special Education and Service Providers
 

Special education service providers will create Distance Learning Plans that will support student Individualized Education Plans. A Free Appropriate Public Education will be provided in this Distance Learning format. Case managers will communicate with parents in regard to their students Distance Learning Plan.   Case managers will be added to all Schoology courses and participate in the digital learning environment supporting the students on their caseloads. Case managers will have all students slotted throughout the week where they will make a virtual connection through Google Hangouts or a selected Distance Learning Platform.  The case manager will be responsible to consult with grade level/content teachers on accommodations and modifications.

Case Managers and Related Services Providers will continue to work on the following remotely:

  • IEP’s

  • Evaluations

  • Progress 

  • Data

  • Grading

  • Planning

  • Third-Party Billing

  • Continue to work on evaluations if data present

  • Continue to connect with families regarding timelines

  • Continue to work to schedule meetings and hold meetings via phone or Google Hangout

Due Process Guidelines

  • Continue to abide by timelines within the Distance Learning format

  • Meetings can be held using the phone and/or Google Hangout/Zoom selecting the format that works with the IEP team.

  • Complete due process paperwork.

  • As meetings change to phone or Google Hangout please note that in a TMN and in the communication log on SpedForms.

In response to student learning and services please consider the following:

  • What curriculum materials will the student need to work on their IEP goals and objectives at home?

  • What on-line curriculum material do they need access to IXL, Schoology, Study Island, Lexia, etc

  • Is your student able to access their district email and Schoology?

  • Review accommodations or modifications that student can access at home

  • Utilizing the learning tools that grade level teachers and building principals are sharing

  • Look ahead in terms of materials-What will your student need.

Access paraprofessional support to gather materials, create videos, read books or stories to post. 

Birth to 3

  • Staff is expected to follow district guidelines.  

  • Services need to be provided using alternative resources such as Google-hangout or a phone visit.

  • Share videos and activities with families

Early Childhood Special Education

  • Staff is expected to follow district guidelines.  

  • You may send home learning packets and utilize learning avenues such as Google Hangout if available in the student’s home.  

  • Think about routines and supports for families.

  • Video Model Social and Functional Skills

  • Collaborate with preschool teachers to support and ensure that accommodations are being provided.

Chatfield Elementary

K-2

  • Staff is expected to follow district guidelines.  

  • You may assemble work packets and distribute them to families.  

  • Provide options for social skills instruction

  • Utilize learning avenues such as Google Hangout if available in the student’s home.  

  • Collaborate with grade level teachers to support student learning and accommodations.

  • Create videos for learning activities and student connection

  • Utilize Distance Learning Platform

  • Provide options for social skills and academic instruction.

Oak Crest Elementary

3-6

  • Staff is expected to follow district guidelines.

  • Continue to upload materials using the Distance Learning Platform

  • Provide options for social skills and academic  instruction

  • Create videos for learning activities and student connection

SOAR Transition Program

  • Staff is expected to follow district guidelines. 

  • You may assemble work packets and distribute them to families if that method of instruction is more appropriate for your student.  

  • Student's accommodations and modifications will be supported in a Distance Learning format

  • Upload information to Schoology or email for students to work on transition skills.  For example cooking, laundry, sample job application.

  • Utilize learning avenues such as Google Hangout if available in the student’s home.  

  • Continue to upload materials using the Distance Learning Platform

  • Provide options for social skills and academic  instruction

  • Create videos for learning activities and student connection

School Social Worker

  • Staff is expected to follow district guidelines. 

  • Communicate with case managers and related service providers

  • Support Social Skills Instruction-activities, videos

  • Communicate with families

Speech Language Pathologist

Student Instruction Checklist

  • Review student IEPs and consider what curriculum and material the student will need to access to work on their goals and objectives at home.

  • Consider online curriculum and resources that the student can access at home-you may need to provide instructional videos for students as they are learning how to navigate this new way of learning.

  • Consider and create methods of data tracking to use to report the progress of goals and objectives.

  • Prepare and upload materials or distribute materials.

  • Create videos for instruction and resources

  • Consider how your students and families will access the information.

  • Prepare and upload visual supports for student learning

  • Prepare and upload auditory learning materials-test or assignments read to students

  • Determine what supports students will need to complete the assignments

  • Collaborate with the grade level or content teachers

  • If you are a co-teacher, work with your partner teacher to create a plan for distance learning.

  • Determine communicates methods that will work best for the IEP team.
