Virtual Student Support Plan
All of the below initiatives will be delivered through a newly created Schoology Group titled, “Counselor Connection.” The group will include all students grades 7 through 12. Beginning March 30th, all support staff information and resources will be included on the
group page with corresponding Schoology updates to notify group members of the postings.
Move This World:
Weekly videos will be pushed out to Advisory teachers for them to upload and share with students on Schoology.
Mental Health Monday’s:
Will provide weekly themes that encompass mental health, resources, and activities that students can participate in that enrich their daily routines and help support overall social and emotional well-being.
Feel Good Fridays!:
Each week we will post a variety of content with the purpose of making our students and staff smile! We will include funny videos, memes, TikToks, staff and student challenges, words of encouragement and inspirational quotes.
Customized Belle Plaine Jr/Sr High Daily Schedule:
Through Google Sheets, we created a custom-made, editable, daily schedule that highlights the priority days and times for each student to utilize. We encourage all students to utilize this tool as a way to stay organized and focused.
Interactive Virtual Connections:
Discussions will be added to our Schoology page on a bi-weekly basis where students can interact, share ideas and support one another alongside our student support team!
Student/Parent Request to Connect:
A Google form was created for any student or parent to complete that can request support for academics, mental health needs, general questions, available resources, or lack of necessities. Initial contact will be made by email to establish a plan for further support.
Student Support Team Reach Out:
Counselors will initially reach out to all students that are currently on their weekly check-ins. We will be utilizing Google Calendar and Google Hangouts to facilitate individual, online meetings, with these students over the course of the week.
Created a comprehensive support resource list consisting of school, community and national organizations that will be posted on our Schoology page.
A Google form will be available for students to request transcripts that need to be sent to the necessary colleges and universities. A senior discussion board will be created in the Schoology group to facilitate any questions related to post-secondary plans. A survey will be sent out to gather data about post-secondary plans.
A Google form will be available for students to request transcripts that need to be sent to the necessary colleges and universities. At the request of the student, the other necessary PSEO paperwork will be sent to colleges via email.
Online Tutoring Options:
We will provide a list of on-line tutoring websites that are available to students for free. These resources will be found in a folder on our Schoology page.
Continuation of PBIS ‘Be RED’:
Funds allocated for student recognition will go towards rewarding students at home! Over the course of the distant learning time frame, we plan to send every student a little token of appreciation, support and motivation to help brighten their day!
